Aria’s Adventures is about a young red headed girl named Aria who is very adventurous and compassionate. In fact, like all of her people, Aria has a unique ability to feel what other people are feeling. Because of this, she can speak with animals, since she is able to read their emotions. She also has several other abilities related to her empathetic link with other creatures.
The first book called Finding a Familiar in the Aria’s Adventures Chapter Book Series is about Aria finding her very first familiar (that is, an animal companion). It is a sort of coming of age for her, when she is finally free to roam the Navan Woods with only her familiar to accompany her.
In her many journies Aria and her friends learn about empathy, friendship, and how to deal with her own emotions and the emotions of others. And she must learn how to confront people who have less capacity for empathy. It may be the most important book series that Dantes has had the joy of writing since empathy is a key theme and that is undoubtedly a virtue that many people in our society (including the author at times) must struggle constantly to learn and live.
